Welcome to the International Puppet Festival Map!

This map has been shared publicly with the intention of supporting puppeteers around the world. It serves as a resource to help you easily locate over 140 international puppet festivals, making it easier to design your tours and connect with the global puppetry community.

The festivals listed here are exclusively dedicated to puppets and marionettes—this is a map by puppeteers, for puppeteers. If you know of a puppet festival that isn’t included yet, feel free to reach out and share it! This map is a collaborative effort, and your input helps keep it accurate and growing.

Updating the map takes time and dedication. New festivals emerge, existing ones change dates, and each addition requires careful research. If you find this map valuable, please consider supporting its maintenance and growth—your contributions make a real difference.

What do the icons and acronyms mean on the International Puppet Festivals Map

✪ IPF: International Puppet Festivals. These are marked with stars, and there are more than 140 of them.

Colors and Layers

Each month has a unique color that you’ll eventually recognize without even trying.
Jan – Feb – Mar – Apr – May – Jun – Jul – Aug – Sep – Oct – Nov – Dec

The map is organized into 5 layers, which you can toggle on or off depending on the months you want to explore:

Layers 1 to 4: Puppet and marionette-specific festivals (✪IPF).

Layer 5: Venues. key locations to try to get more gigs around (this icon 🎭 in black).

 Pro tip: Each layer covers three months (not the Venues one), so at a minimum, you’ll always see three months at a time.

Once you click in one of the International Puppet Festivals (you can click on them either on the map or on the list menu) you will see info about that International Puppet Festival.

Approximate Dates
Although we will keep the map updated, the dates provided are approximate since they change with each edition (and sometimes even the month!). Use the provided websites always to confirm exact dates and get the forms and emails.

Next layers to come for next year

The next layers of the map will contain other Disciplines Festivals such as Circus, Clown Buskers and Theatre Festivals and they will be represented by ⭕ Circles with the same color code. Still lots of festivals to add but it takes time and its a work in progress
